Day 16: Will CBD Help Me?

So this morning I was up around the usual time – 7am. And I proceeded to the couch with a blanket so that I could prop myself up and meditate. Sometimes meditation is simple, straightforward and easy. And sometimes it takes all of my energy just to hold my head up. Having gone to bed late last night, I could not hold my head up today. Too tired. So I made myself cozy in my daughter’s room and enjoyed another hour of sleep. Little Miss Toddler Girl will likely appear with her little bed head soon, so I decided to get my blog post finished. Yoga and meditation practice will happen today, but this morning required a bit more sleep. It was a very yummy hour of sleep! I’ll take it!

Yesterday was a successful day after I shook the anxiety away. I was able to pick up the house, fold two baskets of laundry and put everything away, write a bit as I’m on a couple of deadlines, create some content for this blog and for the Facebook page that accompanies it, swim laps at the pool, and enjoyed a big bowl of pho ga (Vietnamese chicken noodle soup) for supper. After all that, I was wired and wasn’t ready to sleep at 9ish. So I stayed up a bit. And perhaps I paid a bit for it this morning. However, I feel much better than I have in days. Again, I’ll take it!

Okay, so now that I have firmly placed one foot in front of the other in an attempt to leave this difficult week behind, onto some cannabis-related stuff…


Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive or less psychoactive cannabinoid than Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC.) It is a powerhouse cannabinoid on its own, with an extensive list of symptoms that it can reduce and relieve. I’m interested to see how CBD helps me with anxiety, pain, and potentially depression. When these products arrive, I’ll try them on their own. I’ll likely take a THC holiday, or may use cannabis flower in the evening as needed to promote sleep. I will journal my experience here.

My Mental House – Plans & Goals for Healing from Depression

Goal — To Gain Clarity

Plan — Meditate for at least 10 minutes daily, eventually expanding on the amount of time a couple minutes per day, with 20 minutes of daily meditation being the target sit time.  

More Plans — Go to bed and get up at the same time every day. Lights out by 10pm and wake up at 7am would be a good starting point for me. 

Goal — To Reduce and Prevent Insomnia

Plan – No electronic devices before meditation/yoga practice in the morning. No electronic devices for at least one hour before bedtime. DEFINITELY NEED TO IMPLEMENT THIS PLAN!!! I’ll be in bed by 9pm tonight. 

Plan – Read more books instead of staring at electronic devices, especially at night READ BOOKS, NOT ELECTRONICS!!! 

Goal — To Relieve Depressed Mood, Anxiety Symptoms, and Relieve Pain

Plan — Move!!!! Yoga, Swim, Walk – DO ONE OF THESE ACTIVITIES DAILY

Yoga — Attend at least 2 classes a week, practice most days of the week for a minimum of 15 minutes a day. Practice in the morning after waking. May precede meditation. 

Swim — 10–20 laps

Walk — Just get out and walk. 

More Plans — Medicate with cannabis as needed.

  • 1-3 inhales from a vaporizer with a CBD-rich strain first thing in the morning if panic/anxiety/pain not relieved by self care bodywork is on board
  • 2–3 inhales from a vaporizer with an indica-dominant strain by 7:30pm to reduce tension and promote sleep. I feel a cannabis holiday on the horizon. Perhaps for 3 days, perhaps for longer. CBD products ordered!!!

Goal — To Nourish My Body To Heal Up From Depression, Anxiety, and Panic

Plan – In the morning — Smoothie (I have a kefir, kombucha, Vega Protein Powder, and Amazing Grass Superfood smoothie every morning.)

28 Days of Clean Eating inspired meals – Leftovers for lunch and tonight we celebrate a friend’s upcoming wedding, so we’ll be enjoying an evening with friends. And lobster rolls. Yum. 🙂
